Traffic in Iowa

A farm vehicle drives 30 m.p.h. down county road 346 near Ionia. Now that harvest season is upon parts of the Midwest region, drivers will have to be careful and cautious of farm vehicles on the roads and highways. ©/Bryon S. Houlgrave

I was on my way to a photo assignment when I got caught up behind this truck and wagon. This was actually tough to shoot. Aside from the fact that I was operating a motor vehicle while trying to compose a photograph, I was having some serious backlighting issues. I wanted to highlight the speedometer on my Dynasty (which will get a post of its very own in the near future) and the fact that I was traveling 25 miles under the speedlimit, and still capture the wagon. I used the built-in flash on my 20D (for maybe the first time ever) to highlight the dashboard while I kept my exposure meter set on the wagon.

Kind of lame, but kind of fun too.

A while back on a trip to Wisconsin I was being followed by the Oscar Meyer truck. I'll post that photo on my blog as soon as I can find it. It also shows my face, so it can also double as a response to the self-portrait post that you did earlier. Ken

Not lame at all. I like it. Bug splats & all.

Yeah, I hope the splattered bugs didn't offend you, Ethan. ;-) That one looks pretty gruesome.

Ken,

I decided to delete the self-portrait post. I didn't want to have to start beating the girls away with sticks.

Clever shot this one.
